INVITATION FOR STUDENTS
Intensive programme Empowerment for Sustainability and Sustainable Tourism Development will be organised on the island Vis (Croatia) in the period 2 to 15 September 2012. All the students interested in attending the summer school at the International University Centre Vis (the island of Vis, Croatia), VERN' University of Applied Sciences, are invited to submit their applications. The international summer school is organised for VERN's, as well as for the students from partner universities: Helena Chodkowska University from Warsaw (PL), University of Applied Sciences in Vaasa (FI), Fakulteta za turizam – Turistica from Portorož, and Fakulteta za komerčne vede from Celje (SI).
The main aim is to encourage the cooperation and exchange of ideas among students and teachers in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment thus stimulating knowledge and skills acquisition and innovation in the fields of sustainability, entrepreneurship, competitiveness, sustainable development and environmental protection.
Summer school programme
Summer school programme "Empowerment for Sustainability and Sustainable Tourism Development" will consist of various lectures, workshops, panels and case studies related to entrepreneurship, tourism, sustainable development, economics, innovation and competitiveness, all in view of sustainable development. In order to get a deeper insight into the topics, both the students and lecturers will participate in workshops organised in cooperation with local entrepreneurs, as well as take a sightseeing tour and learn about the history of the island of Vis and the city of Split. Contacts with the local entrepreneurs and local population will provide further insights into their needs and expectations; in the workshops, the participants will develop their projects aimed at sustainable tourism development based on these insights. At the end of the programme, the participants will have to prepare a final report on the summer school and a brief entrepreneurial plan, which will be assessed and awarded by the appropriate ECTS points.
Requirements and Cost of Participation
As the course is carried out in English, an excellent knowledge of the English language (both written and spoken) and a clear interest in the field of sustainable development are required. The summer school programme is financed entirely from the the LLP Funding – Erasmus Intensive programme. Travel and subsistence costs are covered for all the participants according to LLP Program Guidelines of the European Commission.
The Lecturers and the Programme
The summer school lecturers are VERN's teachers – starting from undergraduate studies of Entrepreneurship Economics and Tourism to graduate studies of Entrepreneurial Management and Sustainable Tourism Development – as well as the teachers from the University of Applied Sciences Vaasa from Finland, University Primorska and Faculty of Commercial and Business Sciences from Slovenia , and teachers from Chodkowska University from Warsaw. The detailed summer school programme will be available on the summer school webpage by 10 July.
The Summer School Venue
The summer school is held at the International University Centre Vis on the island of Vis, the most distant inhabited and one of the most beautiful islands in Croatia. This isolated venue, abounding in natural beauty and cultural heritage, provides unique opportunities for focused academic work and other extracurricular activities. There are ferry and catamaran connections with the mainland on a daily basis. You can arrange a summer Kemp on historical places for research purpose you can get cheap flights to pakistan for that purpose i m sure student gonna learn lot of things in historical area with picnic environment you can utilized the time in batter way.
